Elementary Art Class K - G2美术课程

Arts are always fun for kids and they can use their imagination to make beautiful artworks. However, art class isn’t just painting or drawing; it’s something involving math, science, social studies, history or other core classes.  As our art teacher Jessica said “it develops well-rounded and balanced individuals”. At CISB, we offer a very interesting program that makes kids appreciate unique art experiences.

艺术对孩子们来说总是很有趣的，他们用想象力创造出美丽的艺术品。美术课不仅仅是关于绘画或素描;它还会涉及数学、科学、社会研究、历史或其他核心等课程。正如我们美术老师Jessica所说的，美术课可以帮助学生综合发展。在CISB，我们提供富有乐趣的课程，让学生们有一个独特的艺术体验。

 What subjects are you teaching at CISB ? Could you introduce yourself ? 你在CISB教什么科目？能不能简单介绍一下自己？

I teach visual art to lower elementary, from Kindergarten to Grade 2. This is my fifth year teaching elementary art at CISB. I love all kinds of art, especially contemporary art and design. 

我是教幼儿园到小学2年级的美术老师，今年是我在CISB的第五年了。我非常喜爱艺术，特别是现在艺术和设计。

 What type of learning do you cover in class? 课堂上会涉及哪些美术内容？

In art class, students have the opportunity to create art with a variety of materials. They are also learning how to respond to artwork by expressing opinions or providing feedback. Recent art lessons have included a collaborative collage inspired by Claude Monet, Seesaw reflections on nature art and 3D masks made with sculpture materials.

在美术课上，学生有机会通过各种不同材料进行艺术创作。与此同时，他们也可以用自己的观点对作品进行评价回应。最近，我们有根据艺术家克劳德·莫奈的作品进行学习创作，用Seesaw分享探索学习自然艺术的成果和制作3D面具。

 What are some of teaching approaches you use in class? 主要采用的教学方式是什么？

My class takes an inquiry approach to visual art. Inquiry is one of the most important elements of the Primary Years Program. I like to plan art lessons that allow students to make their own choices. I see my students as young artists, and my role to guide them in their personal expression. 

我采用的方法是探究式教学。探究是小学PYP课程中最重要的内容之一。在我的课上，学生们自己做出选择，选择他们自己感兴趣的主题。在我眼里，每位学生都是小小艺术家，我的角色是引导和鼓励他们表达出自己的想法。

 In what ways do students express their creativity through our arts program? 学生们在课堂上如何来表现他们的创造力？

Students have lots of opportunities to be creative. For each art lesson, I like to plan for at least one element of creative expression. Students are creative as they select art materials, design their artwork and adapt to challenges during the creative process. 

在我的美术课上，学生有很多机会去表达他们的创造力。我通常在课上会设计至少一个创造性表达的元素。他们可以从材料、设计和挑战中进行艺术创作。

 What types of skills can students develop in class? 学生们在课堂中都会锻炼到哪些技能？

Students can develop a variety of skills in art class. Some skills include fine motor, observation, communication, self-management and problem-solving skills. Art class is more than just learning how to draw. 

学生不仅可以发展他们的艺术天赋，还包括动手、观察、沟通、自我管理和解决问题的技能。美术课不仅仅仅限于是学习如何画画。

 Why it is important for students to have art classes? 美术课对于学生来说为什么重要？

Art is very important! The skills that students develop in art class can be applied to other subjects and vice versa. Visual art provides a special outlet for self-expression and creativity. Art is essential in any elementary program because it develops well-rounded and balanced individuals who are able to appreciate art. 

美术是非常重要的! 它是一门必不可少的课程，美术课上所培养的技能不仅可以应用于其他学科 ，还培养了学生的表达、创造和艺术鉴赏的能力，让学生全面发展。
